Inelco Hunter is pleased to announce the availability of an extended range of Computer-on-Modules (COMs) and System-on-Modules (SOMs) aimed at embedded system applications, providing complete computing solutions.

A COM typically includes a processor, memory, and essential peripherals on a single board, with the primary function to provide computing power, and often requiring a carrier board for additional connectivity. A SOM is similar to a COM, but typically includes more integrated components. COMs focus on providing core computing capabilities, while SOMs are designed to be closer to complete systems with more integrated peripherals, preferred for applications needing a compact, integrated solution.

Inelco Hunter has a franchised distribution agreement with SoM Labs, an established partner of leading MPU manufacturers like NXP, Renesas and STMicroelectronics. SoMLabs aims to select the best solutions for its designs to ensure at least 7-10 years longevity for its products, based on the commitment provided by the chip vendors.

The wide range available from Inelco Hunter includes Linux SOMs and Carrier Boards, plus the new SMARC SOM from display partner Powertip. This is an innovative, powerful, ultra-small SOM designed for applications demanding compactness and energy efficiency. It uses the SMARC standard, which makes it ideal for mobile devices, fleet management, factory automation, medical equipment, portable devices, and industrial IoT applications.

Inelco Hunter provides in-depth embedded engineering support, ensuring rapid implementation, speeding up the customer’s time-to-market. Inelco Hunter’s engineers will work with the customer’s design engineers. This added-value design support is at the core of Inelco Hunter’s philosophy, and has been for the last 30 years, setting them apart from the “stock and ship” distributors.
